The Devizes Opportunity Centre opens up a World of
opportunities for children with special needs and
their families through high quality early years
education, therapeutic care and ongoing support
|

What
is the Opportunity Centre?
A
Specialist Early Years Centre working to promote the overall
development of very young
children with disabilities and special needs.
We
provide high quality pre-school education and care according
to each individual child's needs together with support
guidance, information and practical help for their parents and
carers.
Who
Can We Help?
We
welcome children aged between birth and five years who have a
wide variety of additional needs. These might be of a
physical, sensory, intellectual, emotional, social or
environmental nature and range from moderate to severe in
degree.
How Do We Help?

Working in partnership with parents, our specially
trained, highly experienced staff and volunteers offer
individual help and care for each child.

As a District Specialist Early
Years Centre, we are the focus for children's services
providing facilities for visiting Health and Education
Specialists to carry out assessments, work with children and
meet their parents. |
|
|
We work closely with our
designated Consultant Paediatrician, Speech and Language
Therapists, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist and
Educational Psychologist. |
|
|
We also have strong liaison links
with Health Visitors, Social Workers, Portage Tutors, Local
Primary Schools, Pre-Schools and Specialist Learning Centre. |
|
|
Regular, ongoing communication
between staff, therapists and parents ensures that every
play session provides rich, valuable learning experiences. |
What
Practical Resources Do We Have?
Our
purpose built premises include a large bright playroom,
multi-sensory stimulation room, soft play room, parents
meeting room, consulting room, IT area and an exciting outdoor
play area.
How Can You Access Our
Service?
We have
open referral system accepting referrals from GP's, Health
Visitors, Social Workers, Consultant Paediatricians, Early
Years Workers, Therapists and Parents.
Membership is free and open to children and their families
living in Devizes, Pewsey, Marlborough and surrounding
villages.
We can
in special circumstances arrange help with transport by
providing a voluntary driver or arranging shared lifts with
other members. |
